08 December 2021 Wednesday this is the saddest day for India because a brave Indian soldier, a true patriot and his wife Madhulika Rawat died in chopper crashed near Cooner near Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiri hill district.
Mission Academy condolences to his family. He devoted his life to the nation.
Today we discussed about his life and great achievements.
He was the first Chief of Defense Staff of India. He was appointed as the first CDS of India On 01 January 2020.
CDS Rawat was born in Pauri, Uttarakhand on 16 March 1958 in a Hindu Garhwali Rajput family. His father Laxman Singh Rawat also seve in Indian Army as Lieutenant General. Her mother is an ex-member of Lagislative Assembly from uttarkashi.
CDS Rawat attended Camdrian Hall School, Dehradun for his early education then move for further education to St. Edward’s School, Shimla. He joined the National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. In IMA he was awarded the ‘Sword of Honour’.
CDS Rawat was commissioned into the 5th battalion of 11 Gorkha Rifles on 16 December. His father also serve in the same unit. He has much experience in high altitude war fare.
He commanded a company in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir as a Major. On 17 December 2016, the Government of India appointed him as the 27th Chief of the Army Staff.
After 1962 war India – China face of in the Sumdorong Chu valley, at that time Rawat’s battalion was deployed against Chinese Army.
Rawat also serve in UN mission in Cango.
In June 2015, 18 Indian soldiers were killed in an ambush by militant in Manipur. The Indian Army responded with cross border surgical strike in which units of 21st battalion of the Parachute Regiment struck an base in Mayanmar. This operation is controlled by General Rawat.
General Rawat was married to Madhulika Raje Singh and had two daughter’s Kritika and Tarini.
During his career of over 40 year’s he was awarded for gallentary and distinguished service with the Param Vishisht Seva Madal, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Madal, Yudh Seva Medal and many more.
On 8 December 2021, CDS Rawat, his wife and others were aboarded an Indian Air Force Mil Mi-17 helicopter which crached in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. General Rawat death and those of his wife and 11 others was later confirmed by the Indian Air Force.
